Senior Hardware Engineer, Display Test Calibration, Raxium

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Vision, or in a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience developing display test acquisition systems.
  • Experience with tools and techniques for display calibration metrology.
  • Experience with optical and electrical system tradeoffs, describing capabilities and limitations to the organization.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or in a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in software development, programming skills, CUDA, C++, and Python.
  • Experience creating optical and opto-electric prototypes of metrology systems.
  • Experience with metrology system development and roll-out to production.
  • Experiences with embedded systems and calibration for AR/VR devices.

About the job

As a Display Calibration Engineer, you will be responsible for improving and developing techniques for microLED display panel optical test and calibration. This role spans the entire cycle of test system design including understanding unique aspects of the product, modeling potential test approaches, prototyping promising techniques, and working with partners to transform these prototypes into production-worthy test systems which will be utilized in production of the next-generation displays.

Google's Raxium display group has established a revolutionary semiconductor materials display technology that enables new functionality in display products, bringing to users a closer and more natural linkage between the digital and physical realms in applications such as augmented reality (AR) and light-field display. With start-up roots and a state-of-the-art compound semiconductor fab in Silicon Valley, Raxium is seeking to build upon its engineering team with an aim to disrupt next-generation display markets.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $142,000-$211,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Work with device and product teams to understand panel display requirements. Collaborate with numerous Engineering teams to implement new test strategies and techniques.
  • Devise and model multiple approaches to panel test system design and evaluate tradeoffs, and share alternatives with the organization.
  • Design and develop algorithms for display calibration to deliver image quality and user experiences meeting product requirements.
  • Create prototypes as needed to evaluate the capabilities and limitations of each approach.
  • Work with the rest of the test engineering team and external partners to transform these prototypes into production-worthy tools.
