Technical Program Manager, Data Center Capacity Planning

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.

Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage projects of various size and scope, identifying future opportunities, improving processes and driving the technical directions of your programs.

As a Data Center Planner at Google, you will play a crucial role in strategically managing data center capacity. In this role, you will be responsible for forecasting the company's future capacity needs, and efficiently allocating available resources to various projects and teams. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the policies and procedures that govern these allocations, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives and efficiency goals.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to improve the quality and speed of data center plans, garner stakeholder support, and lead the implementation. 
  • Play a key role in the advancement of strategy, policy, process, and supporting software for operations.
  • Provide scripting/tool development as needed.
  • Translate data center planning needs into software requirements (BRD), work with product and software engineering partners to influence product roadmaps (PRD), and priorities.
  • Offer clear, concise, and logical recommendations to partners and executives in a timely manner regarding Google’s data center capacity and allocation needs.
