Senior Software Engineer, Full Stack, Data Nexus

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience in developing large-scale distributed systems.

In this role, you will build Data Nexus portal for discovery, exploration, and management of internal data (and data-related) assets. You are responsible for building Google's common metadata management platform and the backend of Data Marketplace.

Responsibilities

  • Work with multiple partners and customer teams to understand large-scale data storage, management, access, and scalability requirements for managed flagship datasets.
  • Build and maintain solutions to protect the managed flagship dataset while offering access to a large number of internal customers.
  • Collaborate with indexing/serving teams to design scalable and extensible solutions for critical user journeys, leveraging existing infrastructure and developing necessary software components.
  • Write and test product or system development code and participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide among available technologies.
