Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 3 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure or distributed systems.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 3 years of experience working in matrixed organization.
  • Experience with Distributed Databases, AI Platform and Distributed Storage.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

As a Software Engineering Manager for the Spanner Observability and AI team, you will lead a group of exceptionally talented engineers. In this high-impact role, you will advoacte Spanner's strategic evolution from dashboard-driven monitoring to cognitive, autonomous operations driven by Generative AI and multi-agent systems. You will lead the effort to integrate AI into Spanner's observability infrastructure, focusing on building a causal chain of understanding. Your leadership will be crucial in achieving the goal of an observability infrastructure that can proactively introspect Spanner's current state, discover existing anomalies, and perform automated Root Cause Analysis (RCA).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive the goal and execution for Infrastructure Spanner Observability and AI charter.
  • Manage Software Engineering Managers to work on Google-scale feature development and integrating with other products in the wider Spanner ecosystem.
  • Collaborate closely with other Spanner teams and broader partner teams.
  • Work with manager and Spanner leadership to define future Spanner roadmaps.
  • Participate in defining the future of Spanner Observability and AI journey.
