UX Interaction Designer, Google Search Experience Apps

Minimum qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in product design or UX, predominantly working on mobile apps on platforms such as Android.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization, with a history of strong, cross-functional collaboration.
  • 2 years of experience leading design projects.
  • Familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such Android.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload and meet critical project deadlines, with excellent problem-solving skills.

Google User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of UX Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers: we care deeply about the people who use our products. The UX team plays an integral part in gathering insights about the attitudes, emotions, and behaviors of people who use our products to inspire and inform design. We collaborate closely with each other and with engineering and product management to create industry-leading products that deliver value for the people who use them, and for Google’s businesses.

As a UX interaction Designer, you will join our team and help us build the best possible user experience for the Google mobile applications, focusing primarily on Android OS. You will focus on supporting our Content Experience team while also being able to stretch to support the Apps Design Systems teams on some priority initiatives. You will be responsible for working with other teams to develop the overall product story, helping the team explore what resonates with users, and designing and implementing those new Android mobile-first patterns.

Within the Google App product space for iOS and Android, you will have an opportunity to design for millions of daily users. The team is in a unique position to create a exceptional App experience that Google has to offer.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
  • Communicate the user experience at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and/or high fidelity prototypes.
  • Integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates.
  • Advocate for the prioritization of design centered changes, refinements, and improvements.
  • Assist in building the best possible user experience for the Google mobile applications, focusing primarily on Android OS.
