Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
  • Experience in mechanical infrastructure.
  • Experience in Fire Engineering and Sustaining Engineering.
  • Experience with mechanical system analysis and common engineering software packages (Google Sheets, AutoCAD/Revit, Bluebeam, BIM360, MATLAB/Python, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant field or a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
  • Experience in estimating, mechanical design, operation, and commissioning of mission critical data center mechanical equipment.
  • Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of mechanical cooling plants, fire suppression systems, fuel oil systems, domestic water systems, and sanitary sewer systems in mission critical facility design and construction environment.
  • Experience in electrical and control systems.
  • Experience in design, operation, and commissioning of industrial cooling systems.
  • Knowledge of construction safety procedures.

You generate ideas, communicate recommendations to senior-level executives and drive implementation alongside facilities technicians.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

Our multidisciplinary engineering team provides engineering support in the design, construction, and operation of Google's data centers. In this role, you will have demonstrated design and construction experience in the areas of complex industrial mission critical facilities and knowledge of mission critical facility’s mechanical infrastructure systems. You will have excellent communication skills, ablility to work in teams, and structured organization. You will provide and prepare all types of documents including: SOW, engineering reports, design docs, TCO analysis, drawing markup, budget, schedule, and commissioning program docs.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $171,000-$254,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with core team to understand and develop the DC mechanical designs starting with basis of design (BOD) to issue for construction (IFC) for new DC projects build outs and major infrastructure upgrades.
  • Own and manage all mechanical, fire suppression, and plumbing system issues during concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, manufacturing, delivery, and installation on site. Identify and resolve issues raised by cross-functional teams and various external stakeholders.
  • Generate scope of work for the equipment portions for major infrastructure upgrades based on project needs, and work with internal teams to update and document the configuration as it evolves. 
  • Interface closely with Global Commodities team, manufacturers and the various global and local engineering teams to deliver the mechanical, fire suppression, and plumbing solutions needed for each project.
  • Be able to travel domestically 25% of time.
