Staff Engineer, Network Operations Service

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in telecommunications at carrier scale working with optical network infrastructure, transmission systems, layer2/3 routers, and data services.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, with 5 years in a support, or operations engineering leadership role.
  • Experience successfully implementing process improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to drive efficiency and scale.
  • Deep understanding of networking technologies, including IP/MPLS, optical transport, data center networking, and wireless technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire geographically dispersed teams, build strong relationships, and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to translate business objectives into actionable initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $202,000-$287,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Drive workflow standardization for Google Operations and partners.
  • Develop robust audit protocols, business continuity, and disaster recovery processes.
  • Identify and implement innovative solutions to optimize operational support processes, improve reliability and operational efficiency. Advocate a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Lead and influence change management initiatives that cut across cross-functional teams fostering a culture of adaptability and driving innovation.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies in Google’s networking domain.
