About the job

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

In this role, you will drive the end-to-end development of an innovative, AI-powered desktop robotics product. While this role is rooted in hardware execution, specifically mechatronics, motor control, and electro-mechanical systems, you will serve as the primary integration lead across the entire program. You will be the critical bridge synchronizing our hardware New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle with Firmware, Mobile App (iOS/Android), and Cloud AI teams to deliver a seamless, high-performance consumer experience.

The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the mechanical and electrical development lifecycles (concept, EVT, DVT, PVT, MP) for a complex device featuring precise motor control, magnetic attachments, and advanced sensor suites.
  • Serve as the central program authority bridging hardware, firmware, and software disciplines. Align hardware tooling deadlines with agile software sprints and firmware drop schedules.
  • Map and manage complex technical dependencies. Ensure hardware prototypes are available for firmware tuning, and that embedded systems effectively communicate with smartphone applications and cloud-based Large Language Model (LLM) APIs.
  • Anticipate and mitigate integration bottlenecks at the seams of disciplines, such as optimizing power budgets, resolving motor latency issues via firmware, or debugging bluetooth low energy connectivity drops between the hardware and the mobile app.
  • Partner intimately with ODMs, contract manufacturers, and component suppliers to oversee DFM, tooling kickoffs, yield improvements, and cost negotiations.
