Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience working on technology policy issues within government, think tanks, public interest groups, law, or relevant industry associations.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with Federal and Provincial lobbying, commensurate legislative, or executive branch experience.
- Experience representing a company or industry association in the Cloud, Internet, or Technology sector.
- Experience in enterprise software and policy issues relevant to government procurement, national security, data sovereignty, and cloud adoption.
- Experience in enterprise software and policy issues relevant to government procurement, national security, data sovereignty, and cloud adoption (e.g., Protected B compliance, Canadian defense policy).
- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to collaborate with multiple teams simultaneously and work independently.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, along with attention to detail.

Responsibilities
- Develop and lead Google Cloud's policy and government affairs strategy for assigned federal and provincial government portfolios and specific defense sector initiatives.
- Manage and coordinate a network of external lobbyists and consultants for policy engagement across Ottawa and key provincial capitals.
- Provide policy advice to executives and build relationships with key government officials across federal and provincial levels (e.g., Ministers, Premiers' Offices).
- Track, and shape Google Cloud's positions on legislation and policy trends concerning national security, procurement, data sovereignty, sovereign cloud, and Responsible AI.
- Collaborate with Google Cloud Sales and internal stakeholders (Legal, Security) to ensure alignment of public policy goals and business growth strategies for government, education, defence, and municipal accounts. Ability to travel up to 25% as needed.
