Technical Program Manager, Google Play Monetization

  • Track record of managing portfolio planning and roadmap prioritization, ensuring alignment between engineering, product, and executive north star metrics.
  • Ability to apply technical judgment to navigate engineering scope, assess feasibility, and manage dependencies across a global stack.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager in the Play Monetization team based in Bengaluru, you will drive critical engineering initiatives that power the global commerce engine of Google Play. You will lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects that enable seamless business generation for developers and a secure, personalized experience for billions of users.

In this role, you will partner closely with Engineering and Product Leads to accelerate execution across the organization, managing portfolio planning and roadmap alignment. You will advocate the adoption of AI-driven tools to optimize efficiency and design governance processes that scale with our evolving business needs. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will navigate cross-functional dependencies and represent the team’s goal to executive audiences, ensuring our business generation platforms remain innovative, trusted, and high-performing.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate projects that span offices, product areas, and time zones, ensuring all players are aligned on progress and deadlines. Architect scalable processes and introduce governance frameworks to reduce organizational complexity and improve global communication.
  • Partner with Engineering and Product Leads to accelerate organizational execution and drive high-priority initiatives. 
  • Manage the organization’s portfolio planning and prioritization, drive roadmap/Objectives and Key Results (OKR) planning, milestones, and software schedules in partnership with product and engineering.
  • Advocate the use of AI best practices and tools to automate workflows, reduce manual toil, and improve overall program efficiency.
  • Drive alignment across teams, organizations, and Product Areas (PAs) to reach consensus on product direction, key business metrics, and technical feasibility.
