Strategic Partnership Manager, Devices and Services Business Organization

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking, in the Consumer Electronics, Auto, OEMs, Telecom, E-Commerce/Retail, Apps, Ads, Gaming, or Technology industries
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships
  • Ability to communicate in Japanese fluently to engage with local partners. Business level communication in English to communicate with internal stakeholders

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in partnership management or related role
  • Knowledge and experience in mobile phone sales, hardware enterprise sales, business development, or business strategy with Japan Telecom carriers
  • Ability to identify potential business opportunities, assess financial/business benefit, structure agreements, and discuss terms with strategic partners

About the job

As a Strategic Partner Development Manager, you'll open doors with potential partners, lead exploratory discussions and evaluate/develop business opportunities. You will lead cross-functional teams, provide thought leadership and serve as a mentor to managers and associates. You are comfortable escalating and presenting business development strategies and key issues to senior management. You'll work closely with Google Product, Engineering, Legal and Sales teams on new product initiatives and key strategic relationships that support our online advertising business.

The Hardware Partnerships team was formed with the purpose of bringing the best of Google’s software and hardware to our users by bringing to market and distributing a Google-branded hardware portfolio. The team is responsible for managing all partnerships with carriers, retailers and resellers worldwide. This includes the partnerships for products such as Pixel, Google Wifi, Google Nest Thermostat, Chromecast Ultra and Google Home.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver proposals and pitches to partners for the Pixel and Ecosystem product lines.
  • Draft and manage agreements with partners regarding assorted products.
  • Develop Go-to-Market (GTM) plans, including pricing strategy, business volume goals, and incentive program design.
  • Review business progress, manage demand forecasting, and control product lifetime volume.
  • Collaborate and align with internal stakeholders, including other strategic partnership teams and a broad spectrum of other functions, such as marketing, finance, legal and compliance, operations, and go-to-market.
