Engineering Manager, Android Application Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision or a team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and launching large-scale distributed infrastructure or frontend tooling.
  • Experience managing software engineering teams.
  • Experience with anti-abuse and safety role.

The Android Application Safety team is dedicated to protecting android devices from malware, privacy violations, and content abuse. By leveraging AI and building infrastructure, the team identifies and addresses malicious code, harmful developers, and inappropriate content to ensure a secure android ecosystem, while ensuring a delightful experience for good developers.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the evolution of our review platform, empowering thousands of human reviewers to safeguard the Android app ecosystem.
  • Establish collaborative partnerships with technical leads and leaders across global sites and product areas to define a goal, direction, and priorities.
  • Architect the development of user-centric tools and a scalable enforcement infrastructure that redefines the human review process. Inovate strategies to unlock significant operational efficiencies in our review processes while simultaneously elevating the android developer experience.
  • Collaborate with vertical teams on detection and enforcement strategies, proactively anticipating adversarial adaptations to maintain platform integrity. Oversee teams building and maintaining infrastructure and detection mechanisms.
  • Guide engineering team execution. Mentor and develop junior engineers careers and skills. Attract and retain talent in our field.
