About the job

AI2 builds the infrastructure and AI capabilities that powers all of Google’s workloads. Behind this is the AI2 Innovation Accelerator, which functions as a high-velocity "startup incubator" within Google, aimed at de-risking first-of-a-kind AI products and deep tech moonshots, and distributing these capabilities across Google’s surfaces. We hold a unique dual mandate: turning research into transformative products, while simultaneously rewiring the organization's DNA to be AI-native.

As the Principal Product Manager for AI Transformation, you'll lead the "Build" engine of the Innovation Accelerator strategy. You will operate with the influence of a VP and the agility of a startup, negotiating crucial roadmap changes with senior leaders.

You will lead a small team, acting as the lead architect and builder. A key part of your role will be serving as "Customer Zero" for new developer tools, automating your team's processes first. Your ultimate goal is to lead Google into the Agentic era by defining architectural standards, speeding up prototyping from months to days, and maintaining strong connections with the global startup community.

The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. We empower Google customers with breakthrough capabilities and insights by delivering AI and Infrastructure at unparalleled scale, efficiency, reliability and velocity. Our customers include Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and billions of Google users worldwide.

We're the driving force behind Google's groundbreaking innovations, empowering the development of our cutting-edge AI models, delivering unparalleled computing power to global services, and providing the essential platforms that enable developers to build the future. From software to hardware our teams are shaping the future of world-leading hyperscale computing, with key teams working on the development of our TPUs, Vertex AI for Google Cloud, Google Global Networking, Data Center operations, systems research, and much more.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $282,000-$392,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits. Learn more about benefits at Google.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as an industry reference for AI-first agentic transformation, balancing high-level portfolio management with building of new agentic tools and apps.
  • Protect core engineering teams from high-risk ideas by driving a strict validation lifecycle including autonomous prototyping, stakeholder alignment, and hand-off and co-building.
  • Deploy agents across the product lifecycle to automate operational toil, shifting the organization from human-led execution to agent-mediated systems building.
  • Manage and mentor a lean team of founding PMs to incubate and fast-fail high-risk moonshots not taken by Plan of Record (POR) roadmaps.
