UX Writer and Content Designer, Identity and Engagement

  • 4 years of UX writing experience or transferable writing and content strategy.

  • Portfolio demonstrating UX writing excellence, tone and voice, writing guidelines, and other standards.

About the job

As a UX writer, you are an advocate for Google design, shaping product experiences by creating useful, meaningful text that helps users complete tasks. You help set the vision for content and drive cohesive product narratives across multiple platforms and touch points. As a stellar writer, your portfolio of work demonstrates content that simplifies and beautifies the overall user experience. You work with people in a variety of UX design-related jobs including researchers, product managers, engineers, marketing and customer operations. Collaborating with each, you strive to establish cohesive language and a unified voice across products and platforms. You regularly use empathy, logic and data to inform content choices and recommendations that include the right words and sometimes complementary data and images.

As a User Experience writer, you will advocate for Google design, by creating useful, meaningful text that helps users complete the current task. You will help to set the goal for content and drive narratives. As a stellar writer, you have a portfolio of work that simplifies and improves user experiences.

You will collaborate with people in a variety of roles, including designers, researchers, product managers, engineers, legal, and marketing. You will use empathy, logic, and hard data to inform content choices. You will provide content recommendations that include the right words, and sometimes complementary data and images. You will be able to identify and provide the right content solution for particular issue and different audiences, with deliverables that may include UI text, information architecture, localization strategies, content audits, and taxonomy.

Responsibilities

  • Use writing and editing skills to craft UI text that facilitates user interaction, navigation, and understand on boarding, promos, error messages, instructional materials, and content for other components of the user experience.
  • Deliver clear, concise user-centric writing and content strategy. Act as a subject matter expert for user experience writing.
  • Drive content experiences across a given program or domain. Execute narratives across all touch points within the product and collaborate with stakeholders on relevant outreach (tech writing, legal, editorial, comms, marketing, etc.). 
  • Manage projects from inception to implementation; identifying opportunities and establishing priorities.
  • Collaborate with designers, researchers, product managers, and engineers to define requirements. Manage stakeholder communication, influencing and adapting to feedback.
