About the job

At Google, our philosophy is build it, break it and then rebuild it better. That thinking is at the core of how we approach testing at Google. Unlike roles with similar names at the other companies, Test Engineers at Google aren't manual testers -- you write scripts to automate testing and create tools so developers can test their own code. As a Test Engineer, you navigate Google's massive codebase, identify weak spots and constantly design better and creative ways to break software and identify potential problems. You'll have a huge impact on the quality of Google's growing suite of products and services.

Through your leadership and professional expertise, you manage a team or teams, plan project goals and lead the overall strategy for your group.

For decades, the computing revolution has reshaped our world driven by breakthroughs in compute, connectivity, mobile, and now, AI. Google's XR team is at the forefront of the next major leap – the convergence of AI and XR. This is more than just new devices – it's about reimagining how we interact with the world around us. We're building a future where lightweight XR devices pair with helpful AI to augment human intelligence, offering personalized, conversational, and contextually aware experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing team of test engineers responsible for XR product quality.
  • Define, drive, and execute the overall test strategy and roadmap for headset and glasses, from early concept to mass production and in-market support.
  • Oversee all aspects of testing, including functional, performance, connectivity, audio quality, camera quality, input (touchpad) quality, update ability, and system stability.
  • Lead and integrate the use of AI tools and technologies to enhance test efficiency, coverage, and bug detection.
  • Collaborate with software engineering, hardware engineering, product management, and other cross-functional stakeholders to align on quality goals, requirements, and priorities in a fast-paced product development cycle.
