Ads and Shopping Policy Specialist, Trust and Safety

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in data analytics, Trust and Safety, policy, cybersecurity, or related fields.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with an array of cross-functional stakeholders such as engineering and product management.
  • Experience using data and technology to solve business problems with the ability to exercise judgment in a crisis.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Large Language Model (LLM) prompting, tuning and implementation, coding, databases and querying, statistical analysis.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills with attention to detail in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate issues into simple, clear, concise language.
  • Excellent leadership, organization, and teamwork skills.

About the job

As an Ads and Shopping Policy Analyst, you will draw on policy expertise to drive change to our products, policies, systems and processes, and connect across policy, product, engineering, sales, government affairs, public relations and legal teams to bridge their interests through policy implementation and targeted communications. You will ensure policy intent is translated in execution and explain our policies to diverse internal and external audiences. You will arbitrate the policy line where it is grey. For this role, you will have a strong focus on optimizing policy implementation so it can be achieved with efficiency and scale.

Your job is cross-functional and global. You are driven by a focus on the user and passion for using our technical, legal, business, and policy expertise to improve Google's policies and user experience. You will advise Google on core principles and also drive and manage complex projects.

This role works with sensitive content or situations and will be exposed to graphic, controversial, or upsetting topics or content.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and enforce scalable Google Ads and Shopping policies across multiple geographies. Innovate tools, systems and processes for implementing policies to maximize efficiency and optimize resources.
  • Collaborate with policy, product and engineering teams to influence product and format policy decisions, in order to improve the user experience for policy-related issues at scale.
  • Manage and resolve escalations from internal and external stakeholders. Identify escalation trends and provide feedback to strengthen formats, systems, policies, and processes.
  • Identify gaps or conflicts in the existing policy framework, develop scalable solutions, and work to obtain consensus across the organization.
  • Grow awareness and appreciation of advertising policy issues across the company, particularly among regional stakeholders.
