Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in manfuacturing engineering.
  • Experience in smartphone or consumer electronics industries on key parts (e.g., camera, speaker, display, etc.).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Certification in Six Sigma or DMAIC.
  • Experience in project or program management.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin fluently to support client and partner relationship management in this region.
  • Ability to travel internationally 20% of the time as needed.

About the job

Google has one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

As a Product Quality Engineer for incoming parts quality control, you will be responsible for the components quality assurance of Pixel phones. With excellent communication skills, you will become the hub of components quality between Google, manufacturing partners and component suppliers to ensure timely communication of the components status and support stakeholders' decision.

In this role, you will need to lead manufacturing partners to establish the quality control standard to meet Google’s expectation, including inspection process standard, risk management, issues tracking, and solution validation. You will create a quality strategy for Pixel phones to adapt to the rapid changes in the next few years.

You will cooperate with various Pixel phone teams, and leverage your schedule control, quality control, cost control, and risk control skills, to achieve the collective project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and guide manufacturing partners to have a proper product quality plan for pixel phone products.
  • Manage the parts issues and complete risk assessment, develop mitigation plan and validation plan to ensure the parts quality.
  • Communicate with team members and stakeholders about the components status.
  • Link between manufacturing partners, Google project team members and vendors to get the win-win solution between quality and cost, quality and schedule, and provide our customers an excellent product.
  • Establish quality strategy of pixel phones for the coming years.
