Cloud Regulatory Affairs Lead (Spanish, English)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Policy or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • 5 years of experience leading regulatory compliance and engagement work.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish and English fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience engaging with regulatory bodies and influential voices in the Iberian region, specifically within the Education sector.
  • Experience managing large-scale regulatory matters.
  • Experience in compliance, information security, IT audit, or risk management.
  • Knowledge of the technology and cloud computing market and passion for Google Cloud products (e.g., Google Workspace, Google Cloud Platform).
  • Understanding of key privacy, cybersecurity, and sectoral regulatory frameworks (financial services, healthcare).

The mission of this team and role is to enable Google Cloud to meet regulatory expectations and build trust with regulators and customers in partnership with internal stakeholders.

The Google Cloud Privacy Team empowers Google Cloud to design with privacy in mind to build customer and regulatory trust in Google Cloud. We focus on identifying, tracking, and mitigating privacy risks in Cloud products. We focus on privacy by design, serving as the engine of proactive privacy design, leadership, and engineering work. We keep our customers' data safe from leaks, adversaries, and other threats. We support our sales peers, ensuring that no market is blocked due to privacy concerns. Finally, we work with regulatory authorities, helping ensure that we take their industry guidance to heart when designing our products to facilitate cloud adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture relationships with regulators and key opinion formers (KOFs) to effectively represent Google Cloud's interests.
  • Ensure Google Cloud fulfills its regulatory obligations, while actively seeking innovative solutions to navigate complex regulatory landscapes.
  • Advocate for regulatory frameworks that promote cloud adoption and innovation.
  • Partner closely with legal and public policy teams to align regulatory strategies with Google Cloud's engineering and product goals.
  • Lead Objectives and Key Results planning to translate overarching regulatory strategies into actionable objectives and measurable results.
