Senior Software Engineer, Android XR

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in C++.
  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, or 5 years of experience with software design and architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience leading the design and implementation of 3D user experiences.
  • Experience in leading performance profiling and optimization efforts on constrained mobile or embedded systems, with knowledge in C++.
  • Knowledge of 3D math, including trigonometry, 3D transforms, and linear algebra.
  • Ability to architect, implement, and debug 3D systems within a major game engine or an equivalent internal framework.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Design, prototype and develop the foundational 3D interactions and user interface components for Android Extended Reality (XR), from initial concept to final, shipping.
  • Develop and implement scalable systems to choreograph animations, motion, and audiovisual behaviors across the entire Android XR system, ensuring an excellent user experience.
  • Collaborate with UX designers, product managers, and other engineering teams to define and refine the boundary between Android (Kotlin/Java) and the high-performance C++ graphics engine.
  • Improve rendering and interaction run times to deliver responsive UI on mobile XR hardware.
  • Advocate and build new tools, workflows, and standard procedures that accelerate the team's iteration cycle, enabling experimentation.
