Principal Engineer, Agentspace

Minimum qualifications:

  • 15 years of experience in software development, or 10 years with an advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Mining, or Engineering.
  • 5 years of experience in driving technical collaboration across multiple teams and organizations.
  • Experience building agentic applications, machine learning, and embedding systems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with ranking models.
  • Familiarity in Agent development and Applications.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally, partnering with groups (e.g., Sales, Engineering, Product Management, Product Marketing, UX and UI), and brokering trade-offs with stakeholders and understanding their needs.
  • Outstanding narrative and storytelling skills that propel usage, adoption, and market momentum.
  • Expertise in LLM fine-tuning, distillation, data generation, and prompt engineering across a large variety of tasks.
  • Expertise with Search Stack infra and quality.

Agentspace aims to provide a single enterprise destination for search, assistance, and all types of agents, acting as an "app of apps" to centralize information and agent discovery. It provides a unified platform for users to discover and utilize agents, and for administrators to configure, manage, and observe them across the enterprise, regardless of who built them or how they were developed. This aims to address agent fragmentation and proliferation while fostering a broad agent ecosystem, potentially extending to external users and driving new business streams.

Agentspace empowers enterprise developers to quickly ingest their data and seamlessly integrates advanced AI powered search and agentic capabilities out of the box, aiming at improving employee productivity with the latest AI technology.

As a Principal Engineer, you will guide the technical vision and architecture for this comprehensive enterprise platform, focusing on Search Quality and ensuring its ability to unify search, assistance, and agent experiences. You will design highly scalable, interoperable solutions that address agent fragmentation, support various development methods, and enable seamless discovery, management, and governance of agents across the enterprise. This role also involves driving innovation, fostering a vibrant agent ecosystem, and ensuring a cohesive technical strategy that can extend to both internal and external user applications.

In this role, you will drive the technical strategy, architectural design, and execution of quality for Agentspace applications. You will lead the development of cutting-edge agentic applications, focusing on outstanding user experience.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $294,000-$414,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic outlook for the Google Agentspace to exceed in Search Quality differentiation.
  • Design, build, and deploy search and Gen AI solutions which leverage the latest LLM technologies to improve applications.
  • Establish an innovative product and research agenda. Initiate and lead collaborations across product areas to advance search quality.
  • Advise on A/B testing and experimental frameworks. Drive the adoption and building of comprehensive benchmarks to quantify our search quality, gap, and differentiation.
