Camera 3A/ISP Engineer, Android and Pixel Camera

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or a specialized field (e.g., Optics, Sensors, Audio/DSP, etc.), or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience working in a camera-related technical environment, or an advanced degree.
  • Experience working with camera hardware components (e.g., sensors, lenses, ISPs) and their impact on image quality.
  • Experience with camera image quality tuning and evaluation tools.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with auto focus camera systems and advanced imaging technologies.
  • Knowledge of computer vision and image processing algorithms.
  • Familiarity with camera module manufacturing and testing processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and data-driven decision-making.

About the job

Our team's work goes directly into Pixel phones with a mission to keep cameras sharp and clear and to develop and support amazing computational photography features for Pixel phone cameras. Specifically, we ship Autofocus, depth computing, other advanced computational photography features and are in charge of the product, from research and developing the algorithms, prototyping, and to the commercialization.

In this role, you will play a key role in developing camera technologies, ensuring the highest image quality and performance in our Pixel camera.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $102,000-$150,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., software, mechanical, hardware) to define camera specifications and system requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex camera hardware (e.g., VCM, lens, sensor) issues and analyzing root causes.
  • Conduct in-depth image quality analysis and optimization, evaluating performance metrics and driving improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest camera technologies and industry trends, incorporating new innovations into our products.
