System Validation Engineer, Google Pixel

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience working in a hardware system validation, design, and bring-up technical environment for consumer products, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Experience managing external vendors to ensure deliverables meet strict project timelines.
  • Experience authoring and executing comprehensive hardware validation plans and resolving complex design issues under dynamic schedules.

  • Experience in advanced lab equipment, including high-speed oscilloscopes, Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), Time-Domain Reflectometers (TDRs), spectrum analyzers, and thermal chambers, as well as Printed Circuit Boards (PCB) layout tools.
  • Proficiency in scripting for test automation and hardware validation support.

About the job

As a Hardware System Validation Engineer within the Consumer Hardware Engineering organization, you will be the guardian of product excellence. You will leverage your expertise in small form-factor PCB design and consumer electronics architecture to implement system-level electrical validation and optimization.

From concepts through mass production, you will execute comprehensive validation strategies covering high-speed electrical interfaces, power management, battery life, and overall system reliability. Working at the heart of the product life-cycle, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software, and Compliance—as well as Contract Manufacturing (CM)/ Joint Design Manufacturing (JDM) partners to deliver hardware to our users.The Google Pixel team focuses on designing and delivering the world's most helpful mobile experience. The team works on shaping the future of Pixel devices and services through some of the most advanced designs, techniques, products, and experiences in consumer electronics. This includes bringing together the best of Google’s artificial intelligence, software, and hardware to build global smartphones and create transformative experiences for users across the world.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $132,000-$189,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Understand and internalize comprehensive Critical User Journey (CUJ) test requirements, supporting specialized automation and custom test setups and conducting the tests.
  • Design and execute hardware validation plans for signal interfaces, power, and charging across both time-domain and frequency-domain.
  • Implement rigorous stress-test scenarios, summarizing key findings and providing detailed bug reporting for identified issues.
  • Serve as a technical bridge for cross-functional teams by replicating complex issues to accelerate root-cause analysis and resolution.
  • Conduct high-precision lab measurements to drive Signal integrity and Power Integrity (SIPI) model correlation, characterize corner parts, and align simulation data with real-world measurements.
