Security Engineering Manager, Cloud Red Team, Cloud CISO

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
  • 3 years of experience managing a team of security engineering or security operations professionals.
  • 3 years of experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders communicating risks and setting priorities.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 3 years of experience in red teaming, vulnerability research or pen testing.
  • Experience managing large, complex projects and significant budgets and resources.
  • Ability to understand and anticipate evolving cloud security threats.
  • Strong communication skills with an ability to influence a variety of stakeholder groups, from executives to technical subject matter experts.

About the job

There's no such thing as a "safe system" - only safer systems. Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. As a Security Engineer, you help protect network boundaries, keep computer systems and network devices hardened against attacks and provide security services to protect highly sensitive data like passwords and customer information. Security Engineers work directly with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. You also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.

You are a recognized expert in at least two security domains and use your leadership skills to manage a team that sets the direction and goals for solving Google-wide problems. You identify fundamental security problems at Google and drives major security improvements in Google infrastructure.

Product Security Engineering is the team within the Cloud CISO organization responsible for helping ensure every product Cloud is as secure as it can be, and increasing the security in the infrastructure underlying all our products.

We are building a dedicated Red Team for Cloud whose mission is to evaluate our ability to detect and respond to known and unknown threats by simulating real-world adversaries that aim to compromise and persist in Cloud’s infrastructure.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $197,000-$291,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the Cloud Red Team's strategic roadmap, aligning with the overall security goals of the organization and the specific needs of the Cloud environment.
  • Communicate Cloud Red Team findings, risks, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders in a clear, concise, and business-relevant manner.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with other cross-teams such as offensive security and other product security teams to ensure effective collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard skilled Red Team members with the necessary expertise in Cloud security and pen testing.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Cloud Red Team processes, methodologies, and toolsets to enhance effectiveness and adapt to the evolving threat landscape and Cloud environment.
