About the job

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. Our products need to handle information at massive scale, and extend well beyond web search. We're looking for engineers who bring fresh ideas from all areas, including information retrieval, distributed computing, large-scale system design, networking and data storage, security, artificial intelligence, natural language processing, UI design and mobile; the list goes on and is growing every day. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward.

We aim to enable the Google Wallet Passes ecosystem by accelerating feature releases through efficient platform solutions. Our mission is to streamline integration with minimal customization and deliver value by transforming Wallet data into actionable product intelligence for Google.

The Passes Platform Team exists to solve the issues of scale, speed, and data utilization across the Google Wallet Passes ecosystem. Our platform is the connective tissue that enables all developers (0P/1P/3P) to interact with core Pass data models effectively.

The engineering team is located in SF/Singapore and owns the full product stack (client and server side). We work closely with our cross-functional counterparts, external partners and leadership to define the direction of the product and team.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and lead the development of a highly modular passes platform, enabling developers to create feature-rich, data-rich, and visually appealing passes.
  • Design and deploy base platform modules (such as Geo-Location, Review, and Live Action) that partners can easily adopt to drive user engagement.
  • Drive technical initiatives to improve pass quality across Google Wallet.
  • Ensure platform reliability and performance for passes, making Wallet a premium offering across Android.
  • Provide technical leadership, participate actively in code reviews, and mentor other engineers to maintain code quality and establish unified Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) and data models.
