Senior Technical Program Manager, Data Center Regional Portfolio Planner

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in program management.
  • 5 years of experience in program management or planning for data center infrastructure and real estate development (or a similar industry).
  • 5 years of experience in developing data-driven technical insights and translating them into executable commercial solutions.
  • 5 years of experience with data centers or other critical infrastructure in the areas of supply planning, site development, construction, design or engineering

Preferred qualifications:

  • 8 years of experience managing cross-functional or cross-team projects.
  • Excellent planning and communication management skills in a cross-functional leadership role with the ability to create project plans that break down work into discrete phases and manage dependencies.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a part of the Supply Strategy and Portfolio Planning, you will manage a portfolio of infrastructure projects, ensuring that Google's services have the resources they need to operate seamlessly and reliably. You will be a part of location strategy, regional planning and portfolio management to determine where, why, and how much infrastructure assets Google needs to seamlessly scale into the future. You will provide the programs, strategies and tool sets for our regional negotiation and execution teams to consistently make high-quality decisions at scale, faster and with less risk to meet the needs of Google’s business.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Implement communications standards across a portfolio of programs including executive and key partner communications.
  • Establish a reliable and visible cadence for program reviews, decision-making, prioritization, and Resource Stewardship (effective deployment of machine and people resources) whereby improvements such as efficiency and utilization gains are measurable and the impact can be felt organization wide.
  • Lead a governance structure that drives effective executive decision-making and ensures governance structure effectively exposes and mitigates dependencies.
  • Utilize the output from advanced demand and capacity models to drive critical tradeoff decisions, develop optimal multi-year supply plans, and communicate resulting resource requirements and investment signals to key suppliers and execution partners (Acquisition, Energy, Construction) to ensure alignment and advocate for optimal planning outcomes.
  • Define and manage a program portfolio solving problems that target high business impact for the organization and product area.
