Senior Visual Designer, YouTube Music and Podcasts UX

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in product design or UX.
  • Experience implementing visual design systems across platforms in an iterative software development environment, applying design tools (e.g. Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch).
  • Include a portfolio, website, or any other relevant link to your work in your resume (providing a viewable link or access instructions).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in implementing visual design systems across platforms in a software development environment, applying design tools (e.g., Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch).
  • Experience in delivering art direction for teams to absorb and utilize across product surfaces.
  • Knowledge of technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing for platforms such as desktop and mobile (Android and iOS).
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, influencing and product design strategy skills.

In this role, you will be working on visual, interactive, and identity/brand design at a Google scale. You will help in further evolving the YouTube Music brand and product art direction.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $168,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Create visual design direction, inspiration and assets (including User Interface (UI), design system, motion ideas) of the overall YouTube Music product, and work closely with other User Experience Researchers (UXR), Program Manager (PM), and Engineering to craft delightful product experiences.
  • Maintain the YouTube Music art direction and brand, how it manifests within our product, and creating brand standards that our Marketing team will utilize for out of home experiences.
  • Deliver improvements in design based on User Experience (UX) testing and stakeholder input, and provide guidance and expertise to effectively engage stakeholders on product design to achieve product goals. 
  • Partner with the YouTube UX team to elevate the collective visual design language for the company as a whole.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners and teams across YouTube (artist and industry team, marketing, music programming, cultural efforts).
