Vietnamese Language Manager (English, Vietnamese)

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in a technical project management or a customer-facing role.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Vietnamese fluently in order to educate and advocate for Google's products when presenting to Vietnamese clients.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience within creative, localization, journalism, public communications or the online marketing/advertising industry.
  • Experience as a Vietnamese translator, linguist, copywriter, writer or editor, with excellent translation and linguistic skills.
  • Experience in project/program management, partner/stakeholder management, with experience working across cross-functional teams and time-zones.
  • Proficiency in leveraging Generative AI to optimize localization quality processes and scale high-quality, culturally resonant content, with an understanding of LLM limitations regarding linguistic/cultural nuance, bias, and factual accuracy.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders across businesses and leadership levels.

In gTech Users and Products (gUP), our mission is to advocate for Google’s users by creating helpful and trusted experiences across the product ecosystem. We achieve this by meeting partners and consumers where they are with support and help, representing their needs with our product partners and proposing fixes and features that elevate their engagement with Google's product ecosystem. Additionally we provide a range of product services that ensure our products are optimized for every user, no matter where they are in the world (e.g., localization, digitization, partner integration, and more).

The Localization team helps Google's products and contents look, feel and sound natural to users in their own countries. We collaborate with international Engineering, Product and Marketing teams to steer products through the localization process and ensure successful launches across the globe. In this role, you will play a strategic role by building relationships with partner teams to establish needs, deadlines and quality standards. You will share your project management skills in order to ensure that our Localization process runs effectively and efficiently.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of market expectations for localization quality and how Google's products fit in the market, and create language strategy to enable native language experience to users.
  • Become a critical partner for the Vietnam-focused teams with stakeholders in Marketing, Product and PR to enable native language experiences for Google’s products for Vietnamese users.
  • Engage regularly with local stakeholders to understand their priorities, and share updates on language strategy and global localization services.
  • Create and evolve Vietnamese language guidelines and language strategy for Google, taking into account input from users, stakeholders, and tech language industry trends.
  • Develop an expert level understanding of the Vietnam market and user expectations for Vietnamese language quality and how to use language to achieve market and user needs. Propose language studies and user insights to ever-improve this understanding.
