Software Engineering Manager, Global Network Technology

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development in either (C, C++, Python, Java or Go).
  • 5 years of experience in people management, including managing the performance, career growth, and technical productivity of a team of software engineers
  • 5 years of experience leading the technical design, architecture, and execution of complex, large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience leading technical projects that involve collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders or external partners.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience in network automation and managing the operational health of planet-scale infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience in direct people management, including hiring, managing performance, coaching, and actively sponsoring the career growth of reports.
  • A strong track record of raising the engineering bar, guiding the team through critical production issues, and driving systemic improvements while ensuring a sustainable, healthy work environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical strategy and influence roadmaps and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and influence cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead architectural design and technical strategy for large-scale systems, establishing standards for quality and velocity.
  • Drive the technical roadmap and multi-quarter projects from ideation to launch, setting priorities and managing resource allocation to align capacity with business priorities.
  • Manage a team of engineers, handling hiring, performance management, coaching, and professional development.
  • Act as a strategic partner for cross-functional teams, translating business ambiguity into scalable technical solutions.
  • Enhance operational health by mentoring senior engineers, resolving critical issues, and driving systemic service reliability improvements.
