Supplier Development Engineer, Display and Sensor Module

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing / process / quality engineering roles.
  • Experience working with display modules and their manufacturing / assembly processes.
  • Experience with process engineering to develop and scale manufacturing and test processes.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience managing functional engineering teams, and project management experience including data handling, documentation, and organization.
  • Experience in OLED material development / display optical characterization.
  • Experience with OLED panel/module design, process, and manufacturing, and experience with waveguide and micro-LED module.
  • Experience launching new products for Contract Manufacturers and Original Device Manufacturers.
  • Knowledge of quality and statistical tools and methods.
  • Excellent organization and verbal and written communication skills.

About the job

Google has one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

The team works on display and sensor modules equipped in Google hardware, which may also include an OLED display, touch sensors, micro LED, and waveguide. The team collaborates with display/sensor module suppliers and internal cross-functional teams in delivering quality display and sensor modules.

Responsibilities

  • Manage display and touch technology feasibility studies through theoretical simulation and practical engineering methods, and for design and development of technical manufacturing processes to enable new products designs and functional requirements.
  • Provide technical direction to suppliers to establish and validate process capability during the NPI phase for consistently delivering quality products.
  • Drive technical and operational issues related to material, process, fixtures, equipment during NPI phase to ensure the delivery of a mature product and manufacturing process.
  • Engage in development activities working with cross-functional product teams in identifying and resolving technical/process issues, early detection and highlighting quality risks to core teams and management.
  • Publish reports on supplier performance based on production line statistics from the factory and field, and communicate frequently with regional management and US headquarters.
