Risk and Control Specialist, Source to Pay

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Qualification in CIA/CPA/CISA, or a related field.
  • Experience with risk assessment, internal controls, control deficiency assessment and remediation.
  • Experience with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) auditing standards and control frameworks used in IT Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) (e.g., COSO and COBIT).

About the job

The Finance Operations team manages Google's cash transactions on a global basis and ensures that Google's incoming and outgoing cash processes are controlled, effective and efficient. As a member of this team, you'll find innovative ways to manage our complex set of transactions. You'll make processes more efficient and scalable, work to ensure the highest level of quality of our operations, and proactively minimize operational risk. Externally, you collaborate with our extended workforce partners and internally, you will collaborate across the multiple areas of the Financial Operations team.

In this role, you will support our annual Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) process working with the Finance SOX team for the Source to Pay (S2P) process. You will also be responsible for managing the control impacts of process improvements projects, system implementations, and supporting overall organization strategy for control governance. You will work with internal and external auditors to validate the accuracy and adequacy of controls for the S2P process. The controls evaluation includes manual controls, IT dependent manual controls, and IT application controls for the systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the annual Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) process aligning with Source to Pay (S2P), and the process owners on requirements and timeline, owning annual SOX process narrative. Collaborate with process/control owners, SOX, Engineering Compliance, and SOX auditors ensuring SOX activities are effective.
  • Support the risk and controls work stream for S2P transformation projects, ensuring environment is ready for successful go-live and compliant with SOX requirements, including supporting Risk and control matrix (RACM) development, providing control testing requirements and reviewing control testing results.
  • Execute the overall controls strategy for S2P, defining the risk and control governance approach.
  • Collaborate with process owners in improvement projects, and support risk identification and mitigation to enhance the control environment.
  • Prepare control owners and provide timely support for walkthroughs and testing, performing deficiency assessments and partnering with control owners on remediation plans.
