Revenue Accountant, Search and Geo

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4 years of experience in accounting or a related function, or 1 year with an advanced degree in accounting, business, or finance.
  • Experience in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), with a focus on Revenue (ASC 606) Accounting in a public accounting or multinational company setting.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA).
  • Passion for driving business decisions by analyzing large and complex data sets and working knowledge of SQL and automation.
  • Ability to have a collaborative style and work with cross-functional and international teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to communicate with executive management.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and focus on continuous improvement.

Google accountants are a savvy bunch who handle the core accounting responsibilities at Google. You know your accounting principles and the full accounting process end to end. You'll advise on financial reports required by governmental regulations, and review, analyze, and interpret financial and budgetary reports. Our team supports Search, Search Ads and Geo product area and owns the accounting responsibilities that ultimately play a key role in the performance of the business.

In this role, you know your accounting principles and the full accounting process. Every day is a new challenge, and you are continually looking for ways to help our team get better at what we do, in the most efficient way possible. As a team player at heart, you will collaborate across finance and cross-functionally to manage best practices for your areas.

From developing forward-thinking analysis to generating management reports to scaling our automated financial processes, the Finance organization is an important partner and advisor to the business.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $106,000-$151,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Manage global accounting processes for Search, Ads, and Geo products, overseeing business, cost of sales, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Execute month-end close operations, including reconciliations, journal entries, and detailed financial fluctuation analyses for management reporting.
  • Identify and implement automation or external programs to optimize activities, utilizing SQL and technical expertise to enhance system efficiency.
  • Partner with engineering and business teams to establish accounting systems and controls that mitigate risk during product launches.
  • Support quarterly reviews and annual audits in compliance with US GAAP while providing controllership guidance to cross-functional partners.
