About the job

As a member of the Global Communications & Public Affairs team, you will work cross-functionally to help communicate with journalists and other thought leaders; devise specific communications materials and campaigns; engage in face-to-face meetings with commentators and other opinion formers; and develop print and web-based material supporting these campaigns. We're looking for great communicators who can understand complex issues and explain them in person and also via well written, simple blog posts, FAQs, video scripts and more.

As a member of the team, you will lead the strategy for visual-first media coverage to raise awareness of Google products and advance business goals. In an evolving media landscape, you will be responsible for reaching video audiences across TV, streaming, podcasts, and social channels. We are looking for communicators who know a great story when they see one and can't wait to share narratives with journalists across multiple platforms. If you are excited about product innovations and not afraid to manage issues. You will be expected to go on-air yourself as well as know how to prepare executives for video appearances. You will combine the knowledge of traditional and emerging media to help cross-functional teams shape their video outreach strategies.

We help inform and educate users, advertisers, partners, opinion leaders--and our own employees--about the benefits of Google's products, our distinctive company culture/values and our approach to the big public policy issues of the day. You are quick-witted, entrepreneurial and intellectually curious. To succeed in this role, you are willing to try new things and can manage numerous projects with tight deadlines. Things happen quickly at Google, and to do great work, you need to be an enthusiastic team player who can work cross-functionally with partners across PR, Communications, Marketing, Product, and beyond.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$245,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range for your preferred location during the hiring process.

Responsibilities

  • Drive Google’s narrative across the visual news ecosystem by leading engaged pitching to news outlets as well as managing reactive strategies.
  • Build and maintain a network of relationships with national reporters, producers, bookers, digital news outlets, and new media creators.
  • Own the development of the multi-platform communications strategy for product launches and campaigns by working with Public Relations (PR) colleagues to secure coverage.
  • Appear on-air, coordinate interviews, prepare briefing materials for media engagements, and coach executives to represent Google.
  • Manage agencies for programs by defining objectives, developing content, and monitoring budgets.
