Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 7 years of experience in business development, partnerships, management consulting, or investment banking.
  • Experience working with C-level executives and cross-functionally across all levels of management.
  • Experience managing agreements or partnerships.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA or JD degree.
  • Experience in management consulting, investment banking, or corporate strategy, with a focus on generating insights and solving business problems.
  • Experience negotiating licensing deals for digital music services or other emerging technologies (e.g., GenAI, UGC, or short-form video).
  • Understanding digital product concepts with the ability to build consensus across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high-ownership mindset with a track record of delivering measurable impact in an entrepreneurial, high-expectation environment.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously.

About the job

As Manager, Music Publishing Business Development, you will lead the internal and external workstreams that align YouTube’s music publishing partnerships with product innovation roadmap. In this role, you will act as a bridge, collaborating with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure feature development is aligned with business strategies and that products deliver experiences for songwriters, publishers, and music fans. You will be a central point of co-ordination for conducting business diligence and operational execution for emerging features, including generative AI experiments, new listening experiences, and expanded monetization tools. You will build and maintain relationships with music publishing partners in the Americas, including leading negotiations on licensing and partnership agreements. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $141,000-$204,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Provide proactive business guidance to Product and Engineering stakeholders on product goals, ensuring technical Product Requirements Document (PRDs) are supported by viable and scalable business frameworks.
  • Drive product launches by socializing new features with global partnership teams for feedback and outreach.
  • Conduct business analysis and operational diligence for emerging product surfaces, informing licensing strategy and prioritization based on product goals.
  • Structure and close agreements that enable dynamic alliances with music licensors that enable new products and features while growing economic opportunities for the songwriting community.
  • Provide thought leadership to challenge the status quo and propose both innovations on existing business strategies and new strategies for YouTube to pursue with our publishing partners.
