Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • 20 years of experience managing a budget across a portfolio of hardware commodities.
  • 15 years of industry experience in multiple of the following disciplines: engineering/engineering management, project management, supply chain management, commodity management.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering or MBA.
  • VP/Director-level supply chain management experience, with experience leading complex technology projects.
  • Experience working with APAC based systems and silicon suppliers.
  • Understanding and experience working in complex, end-to-end (i.e., plan/NPI/source/make/deliver/PLM) supply chains.

About the job

As the Director, Global Commodity Management, APAC, you will lead the strategic sourcing and commercial management of products and suppliers critical to Google's internal and public cloud infrastructure. You will directly partner with Google’s Platforms and Infrastructure Engineering teams and Cloud Supply Chain Operations team to secure optimal commercial outcomes from our suppliers. Your leadership in this partnership will be instrumental in enabling Google's advanced platforms and programs.

Your core responsibilities will be to define and own the long-term strategic outlook for strategic sourcing. You will lead executive-level negotiations with suppliers and forge strategic alignment with internal partners in engineering, quality, and supply chain. Your role is pivotal in steering business-critical decisions through advanced analysis and advocating for sourcing excellence across Google.

In this role, you will utilize experience advising executive leadership on high-stakes technology partnerships, the ability to develop and own the long-term outlook for a diverse commodity landscape, and experience driving innovation in supplier relationships by anticipating and influencing industry trends. You will forge strategic alignment with executive partners across engineering, quality, and supply chain. You will be a thought leader who steers critical business decisions through advanced commercial analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Define and own the outlook for APAC commodity strategy, forging a path forward that anticipates industry shifts.
  • Establish the outlook for supplier relationship management across the organization. Architect and close complex agreements that shape Google's long-term partnerships with critical suppliers. Scan the external environment for emerging trends and practices, sponsoring initiatives that innovate and drive dramatic improvements in supplier quality, on-time delivery, and technology alignment.
  • Direct the function's complex commercial and financial analysis to guide executive-level strategic decisions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of standardized sourcing and supplier relationship management methodologies across Global Strategic Sourcing and Silicon Operations (GS3O) teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Align with engineering, quality, and supply chain leadership to ensure the global strategy supports Google’s product and infrastructure goals.
