Minimum qualifications:

- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (C++).
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 2 years of experience testing, and launching software products.
- 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience coding in C and C++.

In this role, your mission is to ensure the correct behavior of both external and internal input hardware devices, ensuring that OS events are correctly processed and delivered to the application/sysUI layer for all Android largescreen. This includes integrating component firmware and device driver with OS kernel, enable the user space and platform layers of the protocol stack and changes in android framework depending on specific user experience and persona.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
The US base salary range for this full-time position is $174,000-$252,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize the fundamental software stack that underpins seamless and responsive input experiences across a various range of Android laptops and tablets.
- Maximize the accuracy, reliability, and low-latency performance of all input modalities. This includes refining touchpad gesture recognition, improving stylus pressure sensitivity and palm rejection, optimize keyboard input handling, and ensure fluid multi-touch capabilities.
- Enhance and expand the capabilities of Android's input system that involves developing new features, improve existing input APIs, and ensure robust performance across various hardware configurations.
- Ensure that input frameworks are deeply integrated within the Android platform, provide a rock-solid and feature-rich foundation for all applications.
- Collaborate with hardware manufacturers, silicon partners, and application developers to integrate cutting-edge input technologies, improve device-specific performance, and help third-party applications harness the unique input capabilities offered by Android Laptops and Tablets.
