Senior Software Engineer, SAP Virtualization, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in software development, with coding experience in one or more general purpose programming languages.
  • Experience with a range of virtualization technologies and environments, including on-premises and cloud-based solutions
  • Experience in development of virtualization software or OS/kernel development, including Linux.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Coding experience in one or more of the following langauges: C, C++ or Golang.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, encompassing architecture, deployment, management, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of device drivers.

As a Software Engineer in SAP Core Engineering, you'll design and develop virtualization features for high-performance in-memory computing. You will work on a wide range of technologies such as Hardware virtualization, Advanced virtualization. You'll collaborate with SAP experts to optimize their workloads on GCP and work with other Google Cloud teams to build the necessary software and solutions. You'll work closely with the SAP Cloud Virtualization engineering team on a project that virtualizes high-end Non-volatile memory (NVM) storage as RAM to reduce cloud costs.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement cutting-edge virtualization mechanisms for processors, devices, and memory, pushing the boundaries of cloud computing.
  • Architect and implement a robust vSMP solution, ensuring unparalleled scalability, performance, and reliability for SAP applications in virtualized environments.
  • Write and debug low-level software that interacts directly with hardware, gaining an understanding of system architecture.
  • Analyze and fine-tune systems for high-concurrency environments, squeezing every ounce of performance out of the platform, and continuously analyze and optimize the vSMP layer, identifying and eliminating bottlenecks to achieve peak efficiency.
  • Develop and enhance features for SAP Business Technology Platform Cloud, focusing on resource management, security, and storage to provide a seamless and secure cloud experience, and Automate the deployment, scaling, and management of applications and services using Kubernetes, streamlining operations and increasing efficiency.
