Product Data Scientist, Geo Data Insights an Analytics

Minimum qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1 year of experience with statistical data analysis, data mining, and querying (e.g., SQL).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working with statistical packages (e.g. Python, R, SAS, Stata, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Experience working with multiple teams to bridge qualitative and quantitative insights to triangulate insights across teams.
  • Deep interest and aptitude in data, metrics, analysis and trends and applied knowledge of measurement, statistics and program evaluation.
  • Adept complex analyses into data driven narratives and presenting them across different media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate analysis results into business recommendations.

About the job

In this role, you will be working with engineering teams across Geo on a variety of problems related to understanding the quality of the Maps data products like Maps, Earth, Local Search and more, the connection between users and data quality, how to grow our ecosystems based on geospatial data and infrastructure, how to scale our state of the art ML/AI efforts and the impact of GenAI features on Maps users and contributors.

Responsibilities

  • Support Geo Developer, Consumer and Sustainability ecosystems foundational data and quality initiatives.
  • Develop new metrics and measurement techniques to generate headroom analysis, goal setting and data-driven strategies.
  • Apply advanced techniques (e.g. embeddings, novel experiments) to create profiles for classifications, correlation analysis and connection between data quality and user behaviour.
  • Generate analysis for Vice President (VP) level reviews and in-depth search.
  • Prioritize and communicate user needs, make recommendations and generate implementation for product or process changes. Identify and prioritize challenges and strategic growth opportunities.
