Data Scientist, Product, Google Cloud Business Platform

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 10 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, performing statistical analysis, and coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL) (or 8+ years work experience and a Master's degree).
  • Experience with statistical data analysis, modeling, experimentation, or causal inference to solve product and business problems.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in extracting large sets of data with SQL and in designing ETL flows.
  • Strong programming skills in Python or R.
  • Track record of solving unstructured business problems with data science, translating results into impactful business recommendations, and measuring the success of those initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing AI/ML applications from inception to completion.

The Google Cloud Business Platform (GCBP) - Data Science team is a central intelligence team in Google Cloud Business Platform. Our mission is to empower GCBP with data-driven insights that drive scale and efficiency for the business, and exceptional experiences for customers. We partner with various stakeholders across Cloud to deliver fast, iterative insights to optimize the customer journey and end to end business operation. We partner with engineers in Data Platform and Infrastructure to scale and operationalize our insights.

This is a high-visibility role that partners closely with Product, Engineering, and UX leads. You will also regularly share your findings and present your work to cloud leadership.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $183,000-$271,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Deliver effective presentations of data-driven insights and recommendations to multiple levels of stakeholders. Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to influence, prioritize, and support product strategy.
  • Define, own, and evolve product success metrics. Report, analyze, and forecast trends of key product metrics and make recommendations to improve them. 
  • Collaborate with the Engineering team to develop prototypes and productize machine learning models by framing a business case into a machine learning program.
  • Lead the design, analysis, and interpretation of product experiments.
  • Apply technical expertise with observational data analysis, modeling, and causal inference to answer the most important product questions.
