Technical Program Manager, Front-End Planning and Pre-Construction

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil Engineering, Architecture, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in program or technical project management.
  • Experience in data center program management.
  • Experience in project conceptualization, campus planning and design, stakeholder management, and value engineering to ensure optimal project value.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in schedule control, reporting, developing strategy, and facilitating the work of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to develop detailed project plans ensuring resource availability and allocation and delivering every project on time within budget and scope.
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time domestically and internationally.
  • Ability to communicate fluently with local stakeholders in spoken and written German.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, timelines, and resources.
  • Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.

As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish. You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

As a Technical Program Manager, you will provide project management for data center campus plans, utility, and site/civil projects at multiple scales. You will manage schedules, budgets, and broad inter-dependencies through a focus on business needs and front-end planning, provide consistent and scalable project readiness support to enable execution and delivery success for partner teams.Behind everything our users see online is the architecture built by the Technical Infrastructure team to keep it running. Responsibilities

  • Oversee project-specific early stage program management in line with established project guardrails.
  • Manage architects, engineers, project controls, vendors, and contractors.
  • Assist the energy and location strategy team with technical constructability reviews and establish project guardrail metrics to develop project capacity, resource, schedule, and cost plans.
  • Provide technical and planning inputs for configuration decisions on all sites. Be accountable for project campus planning.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for the principal data center delivery team, managing supply and scenario planning while leading the process for securing funding and stage-gate approvals.
