Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in manufacturing engineering.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Materials, or a related engineering field.
  • 10 years of experience with product quality development, consumer electronics manufacturing with audio, wireless, camera consumer electronics.
  • 5 years of experience in program or project management.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin fluently to support client relationship management in this region.

About the job

Google has one of the largest and most powerful computing infrastructures in the world. Your team is responsible for providing the manufacturing capability to deliver this state-of-the-art physical infrastructure. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you evaluate the product designs and create the processes, tools and procedures behind Google's powerful search technology. When vendors build parts for our infrastructure, you're right there alongside ensuring manufacturing processes are repeatable and controlled. You collaborate with Commodity Managers and Design Engineers to determine Google's infrastructure needs and product specifications. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's infrastructure fit together perfectly and keep our systems humming along smoothly for a seamless user experience.

As a Product Quality Engineer, you will evaluate the product designs and create the quality processes, tools, and procedures to help continuously improve the customer experience by improving product quality at the manufacturing site in the region. You will work with product management, product design, system engineering, product operations, and supply chain teams across the globe.

The Google Nest team focuses on hardware, software, and services for the home, ranging from Nest thermostats to Nest smart displays. The Google Nest team develops, designs, and develops new technologies and hardware to make users’ homes more helpful. Responsibilities

  • Develop manufacturing partners quality development strategy and framework.
  • Lead factory quality resource, process, performance and capability development, qualification and implementation, and conduct factory quality assessment on a regular basis.
  • Manage manufacturing partners quality issue escalation process, address product quality related issues discovered during new product introduction (NPI) and mass production (MP) phases, lead factory failure analysis, risk assessment, disposition and containment/corrective/preventative action implementation.
  • Serve as point of contact for quality issue of decisions and recommendations and be able to communicate recommended solutions to the product development team and executive leadership.
  • Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and facilitate conflict resolution among a cross-functional team of Engineers.
