Technical Writer, Engineering Productivity

Minimum qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience as a technical writer.
  • Experience with Developer Documentation, API Documentation, Cloud Technologies, Linux Kernel, HTML, CSS, or JavaScript.

Preferred qualifications:

  • 10 years of experience as a technical writer.
  • Ability to learn and document new and emerging technologies.
  • Ability to cope with fluid and constantly changing environments.
  • Ability to research and write effective documentation for developers and DevOps.
  • Ability to understand and document source code.

About the job

Technical writers plan, create, and maintain educational content as an integral part of the engineering or user experience. The content is often in the form of documentation, but may also be UI text, sample code, videos, or other educational material. Regardless of the content medium, technical writers are distinguished by their abilities to explain complex topics in a way that’s useful to their audience.

Responsibilities

  • Write technical documentation, including overviews, how-to guides, user guides, Application programming interface (API) documentation, and API reference.
  • Create additional content as needed, such as articles, images, white papers, solutions documents, product and project-related communications.
  • Organize existing documentation, identify documentation gaps, and support new projects.
  • Define documentation requirements with diverse teams, and work with engineers to create and update documentation sets.
  • Edit, clarify, and enhance documents written by engineers and others. Help others improve their writing skills through one-on-one consultations within regular office hours.
