Senior Software Engineer, Computer Vision, Geometry and Human Perception

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in Python or C++.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • 3 years of experience with Computer Vision (image classification and processing, object detection, visual search), video generation, or signal processing; and experience designing Computer Vision systems.
  • 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • Experience working on audio/speech process, audio based face/body animation prediction, or audio-driven avatar.
  • Experience working on large generative model (GenAI).
  • Experience on writing production-level code for real-time application.

The Google Augmented Reality mission is to give people superhuman abilities by making information instantly and intuitively accessible. The Geometric and Human Perception team is building novel algorithms in the intersection of real-time computer vision, novel sensing and applied machine learning to enable next generation perception capabilities. The team pursues both cutting-edge research and applied technologies, equipped to deliver impactful products. Additionally, the team actively collaborates with cross-PA teams to externalize core technologies and launch products.

We're focused on making immersive computing accessible to billions of people through mobile devices, and our scope continues to grow and evolve.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code. 
  • Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices amongst available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Design and implement computer vision systems, leverage ML infrastructure, and evaluate tradeoffs between different algorithms and design techniques.
  • Build novel algorithms for immersive communication, with an ability to go from research to production.
  • Design novel ML algorithms in solving novel computer vision or computer graphics tasks. The ML model is created from scratch or through non-trivial fine-tune/extension, e.g. with considerable changes of architecture, data, or loss.
