Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience in compliance, risk management, investigation, auditing, legal, or consulting.
  • Experience with enterprise-wide/cross-functional project planning and execution.
  • Experience with building risk-based corporate compliance programs.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, business, compliance) or a recognized compliance certification.
  • Experience implementing effective compliance programs and knowledge of compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to analyze information to draw conclusions, generate solutions, and evaluate outcomes to add value to business objectives.
  • Ability to influence decision-making at all levels and maintain positive relationships with cross-functional teams and regulators.

About the job

As a Compliance Senior Specialist in Consumer Protection within the Risk, Compliance & Integrity (RCI) organization, you will act as a "go-to" expert in compliance standards to ensure integrity and compliance in Google's business activities. You will lead multiple workstreams, translating Google's obligations across legal, regulatory, and self-regulatory domains into actionable compliance program elements.

This role requires a strategic thinker who can proactively identify pain points and gaps in existing compliance frameworks and develop innovative solutions for ambiguous problems. You will drive compliance with significant autonomy, managing project schedules, roadmaps, and resources to achieve long-term objectives.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement robust, end-to-end compliance and risk management programs tailored to consumer protection needs and the regulatory environment. Lead workstreams to translate Google’s obligations across legal, regulatory, and self-regulatory domains into controls and business processes.
  • Design and coordinate risk assessments to identify key risks and prioritize program efforts across the compliance ecosystem. Lead regularly recurring report validation and assessment of trends to measure the effectiveness of compliance programs.
  • Influence stakeholders with competing objectives and partner effectively with cross-functional teams to align on outcomes in the best interest of Google.
  • Identify improvements in moderately complex compliance policies/processes and develop plans of action to remediate breaches with limited management support.
  • Build central solutions, break down technical barriers, and strengthen existing systems to improve the culture of compliance.
