Senior Electrical Engineering Manager, Cloud Platforms

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience working in a data center systems architecture, design, hardware bring-up and validation technical environment.
  • 5 years of experience in technical leadership.

Preferred qualifications:

  • PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Mandarin Chinese fluently to collaborate effectively with external joint development manufacturers.
  • Excellent investigative, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to operate with intensity and flexibility in a fast-paced, constantly evolving and collaborative environment.

Our Platforms Infrastructure Engineering team designs and builds the
hardware and software technologies that power all of Google's services. Our computational challenges are complex and unique, enabled by cutting-edge custom hardware designed and made in-house. As a hardware engineer, you will design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You will see those systems from concept all the way through to high-volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers, affecting millions of Google users.


Responsibilities

  • Identify flaws and issues with hardware components. Solve and analyze key issues, risks, or trade-offs, and address ambiguous or new hardware failures by driving corrective solutions. 
  • Review and approve activities in a discipline of hardware design, architecture, technology, or development across multiple complex products or systems. 
  • Deliver coordinate quality programs with our joint development manufactures that will be used in Google data centers around the world, including but not limited to AI/ML programs, compute platforms, network cards/platforms, and storage appliances.
  • Collaborate with Google worldwide teams and work closely with the supply chain and data center teams. 
  • Manage all the aspects of people management. Drive new initiatives to leverage Google AI to increase our effectiveness and efficiency.
