Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with security assessments or security design reviews or threat modeling.
- 5 years of experience with security engineering, computer and network security and security protocols.
- 5 years of coding experience in one or more general purpose languages.
- 1 year of experience leading teams in a technical capacity or leading technical risk analysis in an enterprise environment.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with security research, malware analysis, or adjacent work.
- Experience with security analysis tooling including PCAP, System logs, EDR, SIEM.
- Ability to generate well-documented technical malware research on request.
About the job
Our Security team works to create and maintain the safest operating environment for Google's users and developers. Security Engineers work with network equipment and actively monitor our systems for attacks and intrusions. In this role, you will also work with software engineers to proactively identify and fix security flaws and vulnerabilities.
The uppercase team built threat detection and security research solutions used by a variety of products including Google Security Operations, and most recently Mandiant Managed Defense.
As a Senior Security Engineer, you will work closely with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Security products to provide actionable Threat Intelligence to various GCP Products. You will require security situational awareness, data science techniques to negotiate with indicators at scale, and interfacing with Software Engineers to build out integration with various GCP Security offerings.
In this role, you will leverage detection engineering, data science techniques, and software development to computer security. We manage over 10 Billion, actionable IOCs that we help push to various Google Cloud Security products to protect their environments. You will work with various internal security teams including Google Security Operations, Network Threat Intelligence, Apigee, VirusTotal, Security Command Center, and Mandiant to give good the advantage.
The team is highly collaborative, promotes research, and provides a measurable impact to keeping GCP Customers safe.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities
- Track and detect threats at the Indicator of Compromise (IOC) level.
- Apply Machine Learning (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) to security datasets.
- Utilize data analysis techniques using Jupyter Notebooks, Google Codelabs, Scipy and Numpy.
